Time Management
Developing your time management skills during your studies in an opportunity to learn how to work more efficiently, now and in the future. It is a skill where some students are better in than others but we all have to manage our time when looking at tests, assignments and our own personal ocupations. This first semester I had no problem at all with managing my time and planning in my task, activities etcetera.

Analysis of time-wasters

Theoretically, all tasks are important since they all affect your grade for a course. I have divided the tasks in 4 categories regarding my personal concern and opinion. (Stephen Covey’s time management matrix)
In the first quadrant I have put the tasks that we have to make on a weekly basis, so urgent. We don’t have an exam for IBC. The tasks are the only thing that are graded and thus directly linked to passing the course or not. I have also put the tasks for Chinese in this quadrant because I find it very important to practice my Chinese on a weekly basis. Not only does these tasks count for a lot op point for our end mark, by practising every week I have better chances for passing the examination.
In the second quadrant I have put the group works or portfolios duo to the end of the semester. They are not urgent but I have to work regularly on these assignments during the first term.
As said, theoretically all assignments are import, that why I haven’t put any tasks in the third quadrant. But I have put the 2 tasks for Operational Excellence in the last quadrant. These tasks are not urgent since they have 2 specific due date. I find them not important because I think these tasks don’t have any added value for the course. I thought we would learn to work with SAP but instead, we just have to follow a manual for both of these tasks. The manual indicates on which button to press, what to fill in and what to do in detail. These are easy points that can be earned but I don’t know how to work with SAP, which was the goal of these assignments. Since they ask for a lot of time (see Assignment calendar) and the fact that I don’t find them important they become a time-waster.
