FAIR USE DEFINITION:
(Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use)
Fair use is a doctrine in the United States copyright law that allows limited use of copyrighted material without requiring permission from the rights holders, such as for commentary, criticism, news reporting, research, teaching or scholarship. It provides for the legal, non-licensed citation or incorporation of copyrighted material in another author’s work under a four-factor balancing test. The term “fair use” originated in the United States. A similar principle, fair dealing, exists in some other common law jurisdictions. Civil law jurisdictions have other limitations and exceptions to copyright.
This site may contain copyrighted material to use of which may not always have been specifically authorized by the copyright owner. My use of such materials is entirely transformative. I believe in the 'fair use' of any copyrighted material.

Reflection E-skills
By making the assignments for E-skills I have learned a great new deal of materials. I have read multiple interesting articles about topics mostly pertaining to technology. It had the effect that I became a more critical reader because I had to analyse these articles and had to make a report for it.
After taking this course for about 3 months, I realise the value it has in the IBM program. I understand the meaning and the concept of the course. I value the quality this course is given in and I agree with Mr. Pollet that it's important to be able to work on an individual basis and that students should be able to use different technologies and also know the way they are evolving in.
I myself have a better understanding on how various programs work and that I have to stay up to date when it comes to innovation of technology.
I have some feedback for the course of E-skills.
First of all I would like to mention that the portfolio is a perfect general assignments. Students should be able to plan their work themselves and the teacher don't have to hold our hand. Thus extra deadlines should not be given. I think this would take us back to secondary school while we should be preparing for a life as a business manager.
Secondly, I would like to have it about the attendance in class. I think E-skills is one of the courses students can do from at their desk. I don't see the advantages of coming to class to learn about a certain technology while I can do this aswell behind my desk at home. Of course students have to come when they have to hold a presentation or make a group assignment but I think E-skills should not be a mandatory class. I myself hate it to come to class, not because that I am not interested in it but I prefer working on my own. Especially when I go to class and I'm listening to the lecture (classes in general), I hate to see that other people simply have no respect for the teachers by just looking at their laptop screens 24/7 and not even paying attention. This not only makes it harder for the teacher but it honestly annoys me a student as well. When I go to class I want to learn something new but for me that is impossible in an environment where others don't want to. I often hear the following from certain people:
"Nino doesn't come to class, he doesn't care. Nino his grades will be bad because he doesn't come to class"
Most of the people that are saying this are the ones that aren't paying attention in class. Of course there are students who are paying attention and it's not only necessary for them that there are classes of for example E-skills but also for me. When I don't understand an assignment or topic I would like to go to class to learn more about it and ask questions.
Lastly I would like to mention some things about my own portfolio. I decided to make an extra tab on the website of my last portfolio for Talent and that I will be using this site as my general 'school assignment website'.
I decided to make a simple and clean portfolio, easy to navigate and pleasant to read. I made 3 kind of categories: the general information about a topic, the individual assignments and the group assignments. I have to be honest and say that I started to late with working on my portfolio this year. Last year, for the portfolio of talent, I worked every week for my portfolio. This year I had the plan to make it in the last 6 weeks, which was a viable plan. Unluckily I became very sick, lost a week and a half and "unluckily" I got a girlfriend, which also took some time that wasn't planned for it. But there is not something like excuses, an egg is an egg and a deadline is a deadline. I am happy with the portfolio I made but I think I could do better. By this I have also learned that I have to plan in the 'unexpected' things in life, if that is possible, so the quality of my tasks won't go down (again). I hope that you will have a nice time browsing my portfolio.
